While New York Fashion Week is always a time to watch some of the oldest, most celebrated houses in existence, it’s also a time to watch the designers who are up and coming. We had some great debuts during MADE Fashion Week this year, but there was one debut in particular that captivated our imagination. It’s a label called Botanika, and they served gold-flecked New Wave realness on a platter.
Botanika’s debut collection was one that was built around effortlessly playful glamor. The dresses were composed of gold lamé and sparkly sheers, one in particular composed of only sparkly sheer, dripped with sex appeal. Elsewhere, psychedelic prints were decked out on floor length navy gowns and high collared jackets, the latter of which was accented with pink leather. With gold turbans that made us think of Bianca Jagger and 10k gold makeup on the models’ eyes and lids, we’re sure Botanika’s future will be as bright. We’re gonna play Chic on repeat while looking back on the label’s debut collection.
